The Raymond "Chick" Dolezel Environmental Science Scholarship Endowment has been established at Stephen F. Austin State University. Dolezel, a professional geoscientist with more than 40 years experience in performing natural resource investigations for government, commercial, industrial and private entities, is an experienced wetland specialist and served on the original team that developed the current criteria for the delineation of wetlands. In addition to soil science and wetlands delineation, Dolezel's areas of expertise include soils engineering, soils forestry problems and soils contamination. Dolezel served for 35 years as a soil scientist with the Soil Conservation Service, now the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and has authored numerous technical publications on soils in the East Texas area. Dolezel currently serves as senior soil scientist and natural resources specialist with Hydrex Environmental and resides in Nacogdoches with his wife, Millie. The scholarship will benefit undergraduate students majoring in environmental science at SFA.
