Faculty/staff appointments

The regents of Stephen F. Austin State University approved changes of status for faculty and staff members during their recent meeting.

The following faculty appointments were approved:
• Criminal justice - Karren Price, assistant professor, and Georgen Guerrero, instructor;
• Economics and finance - Todd Brown, assistant professor;
• Elementary education - Erica Dillard, Jannah Nerren and Claudia Whitley, instructors;
• Forestry - Matthew McBroom, assistant professor; and
• Nursing - Laura Logan, clinical instructor.

Staff appointments also were approved as recommended by the administration. They included:
• Athletics - Robert McFarland, head football coach, and assistant football coaches James C. Harper, Matthew Graves, Jay Rodgers, Gerald Broussard, Arlington Nunn and Darren Drago;
• Auxiliary Services - Edward H. Burr, computer support manager;
• Education - H. Ray Brown Jr., director of State Leadership Consortium, and Barbara Davis, director of Gear Up Project;
• Forestry and Agriculture - medicinal plant research associates Stacy L. Ownby, Ping Wang, Wei Yuan and Wanli Zhang;
• Health Services - Flamen Ball Jr., M.D., physician;
• Human Resources - Kristen Herring, representative;
• Information Technology Services - Novel G. Schmidt, programmer/analyst;
• Sciences and Mathematics - Irina Teplova, biotechnology research associate; and
• University Advancement - Kristen E. King, telephone outreach program supervisor.

Changes of status were approved for Dr. James Kroll and Paul R. Blackwell, who were appointed to SFA's new Columbia Regional Geospatial Service Center as director and assistant director, respectively. Other status changes included:
• Admissions - Andrea R. Graves and Stephanie L. Porter, counselors;
• Applied Arts and Sciences - Jennifer M. Crenshaw, outreach coordinator;
• Auxiliary Services - Shelly Lackey, interim Student Center director;
• Education - Edward F. Wittel, technology and data management coordinator;
• Forestry and Agriculture - James H. Bills, research associate systems administrator; Terry A. Corbett, research technician measurement/biometrics; Jason B. Grogan, geospatial data acquisition specialist; Ching-Hsun Huang, research scientist; and Benjamin H. Koerth, research associate;
• Information Technology Services - Richard M. Barnhart, ITS SIS manager, and Tracey P. Foster, programmer/analyst;
• Social Work - Becky L. Price-Mayo, lecturer/interim director;
• Sciences and Mathematics - Jennifer A. Edwards, research specialist lab management; and
• University Advancement - April L. Smith, assistant director of development giving.

The retirements of Jack Nelson, auxiliary services director; Paulette D. Wright, education lecturer; William D. Whitescarver, assistant professor of English and philosophy; and Sherry Moore, physical plant assistant director, were accepted by regents. Voluntary modification of employment was approved for Rachel Underwood, human sciences professor, and Heinz Gaylord, psychology professor.
