NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the annual Pi Kappa Lambda Faculty Recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in Cole Concert Hall.
The recital was originally scheduled for Sept. 22 but was cancelled because of Hurricane Rita.
Charles Gavin, SFA professor of music and coordinator of the event, said the concert celebrates the performing faculty of the School of Music and is one of the most popular concerts of the year. "When we had to cancel the performance, we were determined to find a new date since it is always so well received. The performers usually choose works that will showcase their talents and engage the audience."
The concert also raises funds for the Pi Kappa Lambda Scholarship, which is awarded annually to the sophomore music major with the highest grade point average.
The concert will feature a variety of works performed by artists of the string, wind/percussion, jazz, vocal and keyboard areas.
