SFA to present 'The Gas Heart'

January 22, 2008 - Sylvia Bierschenk

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Theatre will present a student-directed production of "The Gas Heart" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in the Downstage Theater of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

The play was written by Tristan Tzara, a founder of the Dada, anti-art movement popular from 1916 to 1920, and "provides a strange adventure away from realism," said director Elizabeth Davis, senior theatre major from Wylie. "It is unlike any style of theatre our viewers might have seen."

Cast members are Waldron Archer, Hutto freshman; Tony Douglas, Dallas sophomore; Lisa Hunter, Tyler senior; Robert Meza, Cypress freshman; Timothy Olivares, Helotes senior; and Jason Zednick, Jacksonville junior.

Davis most recently portrayed Maggie Saunders in SFA's production of "Lend Me a Tenor." Other roles at SFA include Sandy in "Grease," Holly in "Anton in Show Business" and Tessie in "Never in My Lifetime." She has also appeared in "Hair" and "The Problem." Davis is a member of the Original Cast and served as sound designer for "The Bald Soprano."

Tickets are $3 each. For tickets or more information, please call (936) 468-6407.
