Children enrolled in the 2006 Music Discovery Camp participate in one of the many activities included in the program offered through the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division. Jennifer Weems, center back, will again direct a week-long camp, "Musical Stories and Suites," from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, for students entering second through sixth grades.
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are being accepted for "Musical Stories and Suites," a Music Discovery Camp for first through sixth graders offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13. Registration deadline is Wednesday, June 27.
Participants will enrich their musical knowledge and participate in creative games and crafts, explained Jennifer Weems, camp director. "For example, campers will study the Old West as they listen to the many musical sections of 'Billy the Kid,' learn the stories behind the 'Mother Goose Suite' and study the instruments of the orchestra while hearing 'Peter and the Wolf.'"
Sessions will be held in Room 275 of the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.
Cost of the camp is $65. Registration forms are available on the Music Preparatory Division's Web site, www.music.sfasu.edu/prep, or in the SFA School of Music Office,l located in Room 150 of the Wright Music Building.
