NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Patricia Card, associate professor of music at Sam Houston State University, will present a guest clarinet recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. The free recital is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music.
Card and her pianist. Jay Whatley, will perform Fantasy Pieces, Op. 43 by Niels Gade, Leslie Bassett's Soliloquies, Variaciones by Leonardo Velazquez, and Sonata by Francis Poulenc. Christopher Ayer, SFA assistant professor of music, will join Card and Whatley in presenting Gary Schocker's Sonata for Two Clarinets and Piano.
A featured guest artist at music educators' conventions in Chicago and San Antonio, Card most recently performed at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest in Washington, D.C. and at the national Flute Association Convention in San Diego. She has also presented clinics at conventions of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association and the Oklahoma Music Educators Association.
Card received her Doctor of Musical Arts and Bachelor of Music from North Texas State University and the Master of Music from the University of Michigan.
