The 11th annual Mission Possible Conference will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday, April 7, at First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Hospital St. Titled Embracing Recovery, the mental health conference will provide information regarding choices in recovery, family roles and alcohol abuse, education for children with special needs and recovery after disasters. An ethics workshop also will be held.
Keynote speaker is Dr. Michael Fuller, associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavior Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Other speakers include representatives from Rusk State Hospital, the Burke Center, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, and other state and local organizations.
Mission Possible will provide nurses, social workers, licensed professional counselors, licensed chemical dependency counselors and licensed marriage and family therapists with continuing education credit approved by the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Mental health consumers, family members and students may attend the conference at a reduced fee.

Austin State University’s School of Social Work, the Burke Center, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, Brentwood Hospital, Lufkin and Nacogdoches chapters of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Nacogdoches Medical Center, Piney Woods Area Health Education Center, and Rusk State Hospital.
