SFA to present cello and piano recitals commemorating Beethoven
Kae Hosoda-Ayer and Evgeni Raychev will present "Beethoven I" and "Beethoven II" at 4 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus. Raychev is an instructor of music at SFA, and Hosoda-Ayer is lecture of collaborative piano at Baylor University.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Cellist Evgeni Raychev and pianist Kae Hosoda-Ayer will present Ludwig van Beethoven's complete chamber works for cello and piano during a two-part recital at 4 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

"Beethoven I" and "Beethoven II" commemorate the 180th year of the composer's death, which occurred on March 26, 1827.

"This marks the second commemorative recital I have presented," said Raychev. "The recitals are my way of respecting the great musicians that have indispensably contributed to the wealth of cello literature and art."

Raychev and Hosoda-Ayer will present the sonatas and sets of variations for piano and violoncello over the course of the two recitals. Each recital will last approximately 75 minutes, and tickets for each will be sold separately.

Raychev joined the SFA music faculty in 2003 and serves as the principal cellist in the Orchestra of the Pines. The Bulgarian native received his master's degree from the Sofia Music Academy and a second master's and doctoral degrees in cello performance from Florida State University. He has given recitals and performed with orchestras in Bulgaria, Austria, Czech Republic, Costa Rica and the United States.

Hosoda-Ayer is a lecturer of collaborative piano at Baylor University. After completing her bachelor's degree at Toho Gakuen School in Tokyo, she earned her master's from the New England Conservatory of Music and her doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She has concretized throughout the United States, Japan and Korea.

"Beethoven I" and "Beethoven II" are joint presentations of the SFA College of Fine Arts and the School of Music. Tickets for each recital are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students. For tickets or more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
