NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Flutist Christina Guenther, assistant professor of music at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present a faculty chamber recital with SFA faculty members Bruce Fowler, tenor; Christopher Ayer, clarinet; Evgeni Raychev, cello; and Ron Petti, piano.
The concert, "Christina Guenther and Friends," is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall. Guest marimbist Dan Davis, graduate student at Northwestern University in Chicago, will also perform with Guenther.
"This recital gives me the opportunity to play chamber music with some of my best friends," said Guenther. "We'll be playing a variety of fun pieces, from children's songs to tangos."
The pieces are all by living composers: Robert Muczynski, John Corigliano, Astor Piazzolla, Mike Mower and David W. Campo, SFA associate director of bands. The recital is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music.
