An Emmy Award-winning television reporter will be the featured speaker at the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Fourth Friday Luncheon at noon Friday, March 23, at the Fredonia Hotel.
During his 20 years in television news, Jeff Crilley has made hundreds of national news appearances on stations and programs including CNN, CNN Headline News, FOX News, The Discovery Channel, Good Morning America and The CBS Early Show.
Crilley is a general assignment reporter for a Dallas television station. He has won two Emmy awards, including one for a story about a high-school student's battle with cancer.
Crilley also has been recognized with national and regional awards including the National Headliners Award, the Edward R. Murrow Award and the Thurgood Marshall Award. In 2004, he was named by the Texas Associated Press as "The Best TV Reporter in the State" for reporting that led to the release of an innocent man from prison.
In a one-hour workshop following the luncheon, Crilley will share the secrets of attracting news coverage and the best opportunities for free publicity. Guests who purchase Crilley's book "Free Publicity, A TV Reporter Shares the Secrets of Getting Covered on the News" will be admitted to the workshop at no charge. Books are $10 each.
