Smokey Bear to join the fun at Pineywoods Easter Egg Hunt

Shirley Luna - March 27, 2007

The Pineywoods Native Plant Center and Forest Resources Institute will host the eighth annual Tucker Memorial Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7.

The Tucker family historically held an Easter egg hunt for community children, and this tradition has been revived by SFA staff and volunteers at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center and Forest Resources Institute, according to Elyce Rodewald, education coordinator at the center.

In addition to the egg hunt, Smokey Bear will be on hand for the celebration. Members of the National Junior Honor Society at McMichael Middle School will provide face painting and other activities for participants.

Festivities begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. The egg hunt starts promptly at 10 a.m at the center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Children should bring their own basket and must be accompanied by an adult.
