NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - "Reap," an exhibition of sculptural works by husband-wife team Rick Herzog and Joni Younkins-Herzog will be on display Tuesday, March 11, through Saturday, March 29, in the first-floor gallery of The Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches. The exhibition is a joint presentation of the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art.

Michelle Rozic, SFA assistant professor of art and former classmate of Joni's, described Joni's work as "tasty and seductive since it beckons you to touch or feel it. She often combines cast body parts in unexpected ways with traditional materials such as bronze or fiberglass."

In his artist statement, Rick wrote that his current work explores botanical forms, the lack of interaction between man and nature and our disconnection from this environment.

The sculptors met at the University of Georgia 15 years ago, and they have worked parallel with one another ever since. Rick holds his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bowling Green in Ohio and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia. Joni earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia and her Master of Fine Arts from Indiana University.

Both have exhibited in Cortona, Italy, and Medellin, Colombia, and throughout the United States. They currently reside in Tulsa, Okla., where Rick teaches at the University of Tulsa and Joni teaches at Rogers State University.

The artists will give an artist talk at 4:45 p.m, on Monday, March 31, in Room 106 of the SFA Art Building off of Wilson Drive. The public is invited.

The Art Center is open from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and admission is free. For more information, please call (936) 468-1131.
