Three Stephen F. Austin State University students who designed an advertising campaign have won honorable mention in the national Yellow Pages Association Collegiate Creative Competition.
Amanda Bailey, Lufkin junior; Peter Loudis, a spring 2006 graduate from Houston; and Amber Saenz, Nacogdoches senior, designed print and Internet ads for the competition in Advertising Cases and Campaigns, a class in SFA¹s Department of Communication. They will share a $500 prize, and the communication department will receive $250.
Bailey, Loudis and Saenz created a logo, slogan, key image and layouts for a fictitious floral shop in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were judged on originality; strength of concept; quality of copy illustrations; overall design and layout; consistency in tone, manner and approach; and ability to communicate and motivate contact. The students were sponsored by Linda Bond, SFA communication instructor.
According to Neg Norton, president of the Yellow Pages Association, more than 300 entries were received from students enrolled at 67 colleges and universities across the United States. Norton said all of the entries were of very high quality, and the judges had a difficult time selecting the small set of winning entries.
