A Stephen F. Austin State University horticulturist will present “Gardening with the Birds and the Bees…Saving the Planet One Yard at a Time” at the next Mast Arboretum Les Reeves Lecture Series at SFA on Thursday, May 15.
Greg Grant is the research associate at the SFA Pineywoods Native Plant Center, co-author of “Home Landscaping – Texas and The Southern Heirloom Garden” and a lifetime member of the Native Plant Society of Texas.
Grant lives in Arcadia in his great-grandparents’ dogtrot farmhouse, where he tends over 100 eastern bluebird boxes and his own quarter-acre “pocket prairie.”
The SFA Arboretum Les Reeves Lecture Series is held the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 110 of the Agriculture Building on Wilson Drive. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments are served before the talk, and a rare plants raffle is held.
