Native Plant Conference Held in Nacogdoches

The Stephen F. Austin State University Piney Woods Native Plant Center will host the fourth Lone Star Regional Native Plant Conference May 28-31 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The conference will be held in the Piney Woods Native Plant Center located on 2900 Raguet St.

Participants will receive the opportunity to hear lectures, purchase plants and tour various scenic locations lead by numerous native plant experts from Texas and the South.

Some tour options include the Matlock Hills and Colera Creek, Nacogdoches-area tour, San Augustine County and Stewart Ranch, Tyler County, Ivy Payne Preserve, Jasper and Newton County, Little Sandy Hunting and Fishing Club, Hillside Pitcher Plant Bogs, Naconiche Creek, Steward Ranch, White-tailed Deer Breading and Research Center at Dogwood Farms.

Workshops reguarding edible plants, propagation, digital photography, floral arranging, and land trust and conservation programs for small landowners will be given.

A dinner and dance will also be offered Saturday night after the workshops and tours are finished.

Participants may stay in the Fredonia Hotel for a special conference-rate price. Registration is $250 and will increase to $300 after May 15. Meals, tours, conference and dance costs are included in the full registration price.
