Shirley Luna - May 20, 2008

Joe Max Green, chair of the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents, recently was inducted as an honorary member in the SFA chapter of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest academic honor a business student can receive, and the SFA chapter has received the organization’s Gold Chapter award for the past two year. The Gold Chapter award is the highest award given by the association and goes to one of the 400-plus chapters around the world at the association’s annual conference. SFA has placed as one of the top three chapters in seven of the past nine years. Green, who holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from SFA, is pictured with Dr. Tim Clipson, at right. In addition to Clipson, faculty supervisors for the organization include Cathy Henderson, Sharron Graves and Drs. Joyce Hoffman, Deborah Dunn and Keaton Grubbs. Dr. Violet Rogers, dean of the college, said Green was named Chapter Honoree and will be nominated for Beta Gamma Sigma’s prestigious Business Achievement award, which recognizes an individual for significant achievement in the field of business. Green is chairman and CEO of Joe Max Green / Insurance Concepts and serves as regional vice president of the Texas Association of Insurance Agents.
