A U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran recently spoke to the Veterans Service Organization at Stephen F. Austin State University.
David Stroud is a first tour Vietnam veteran and professor of history at
Kilgore College. At SFA, Stroud spoke on his early years in the military,
his 1965 Vietnam Tour in Da Nang, Vietnam, and his efforts regarding the
Medal of Honor. Stroud has assisted in the apprehension of individuals who
were named Medal of Honor winners based on falsified information.
More than 170 students, faculty and guests attended the presentation, according to Patrick Richey, vice president of the SFA veterans' organization.
The Veterans Service Organization, a social group on campus for military veterans and those who support veterans, hosted the event along with the SFA history department and Dr. Phillip Catton, assistant professor of history.
