The Trombone Choir of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Cole Concert Hall.
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Trombone Choir in concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
During the first half of the concert, the musicians will perform in quartets and then perform as a large ensemble during the second half, explained Deb Scott, SFA assistant professor of music and director of the choir.
The program includes familiar Christmas songs such as "We Three Kings," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," and "Silent Night" as well as works by Giovanni Palestrina, David Uber and Rayner Brown.
Student members of the choir include freshmen Justin Allen, Kelly Barker, Cory Barnes, Adam Fredericks, John Happel, Andrew Klingsick, Shawn McBrayer, Tiffanie Meagher and Quentin Polk. Other students are sophomore Sam Alford, senior Ricky Tang and juniors Todd Rogers, Zachary Thornton, Chris Tiedemann and Robert Underhill.
The choir also includes Dr. A.C. "Buddy" Himes, dean of the SFA College of Fine Arts, and community member Steve Cox.
