NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stone Fort Wind Quintet, comprised of five faculty members of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music, will present its annual fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Cole Concert Hall.

Christina Scott, flute; John W. Goodall, oboe; Christopher Ayer, clarinet; Kirsten Nelson, bassoon; and Charles Gavin, horn; will present music that will be "totally new to East Texas audiences,"
according to Gavin.

"After playing the historical standard work in the wind quintet repertoire for several years, the group felt we needed to find new works that are challenging, fresh and engaging to the audience," Gavin explained.

Included on the program are Lee Hoiby's "Diversions," which Gavin described as "a delightful suite of stylized dance movements," and John Cheetham's
"Quintet for Woodwinds," which is characterized by energetic rhythmic motion and lyrical lines.

SFA Assistant Professor Brian Utley, saxophone, will join the ensemble in presenting Leon Stein's "Sextet for Alto Saxophone and Wind Quintet."

The quintet will also perform "Quintet for Winds" by Swedish composer Johann Kvandal, whose work is deeply rooted in the late nineteenth century Romantic harmonic language.

The Stone Fort Wind Quintet performs regularly on campus and has been featured in such venues as the National Flute Association convention and the International Saxophone Alliance.

Following the Nov. 7 concert, the quintet will tour the Dallas-Fort Worth area to perform concerts and conduct master classes at numerous schools.

The concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students. For tickets or more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
