U.S. Air Force country band to present free concert at SFA

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Wild Blue Country, one of the 10 performing groups that make up the 76-member U.S. Air Force Academy Band, will present a free concert at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Cole Concert Hall on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

The five-member group performs a variety of musical styles suitable for all ages, including country, classic rock and country rock. The ensemble has been featured on the Grand Ole Opry and television shows such as Nashville Now and Opry Back Stage.

A favorite in country music circles, Wild Blue Country has appeared with recording artists such as Charlie Daniels, Conway Twitty, Hank Williams, Jr., Reba McIntire, Ray Price and Mickey Gilley.

The group's musical director is Master Sgt. Jerome Oddo. He performs bass and vocals with Wild Blue Country, arranges music for the band and coordinates local and national tours.

Other members are Master Sgt. James Bristow, guitar; Master Sergeant Janusz S. Masztalerz, audio engineer; Tech. Sgt. Todd A. Gustafson, piano; and Tech Sgt. Tim Stombaugh, percussion.

The concert is a joint presentation of the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music. Wild Blue Country
appears on behalf of the Superintendent, USAF Academy.

Following the approximately one-hour performance, the group will hold a question-and-answer session and a brief clinic on improvisation.
