SFA mourns student death
Oct. 8, 2007
The Stephen F. Austin State University community today is mourning the death of Nikolas Gallegos, a freshman from Mesquite, Texas, following a weekend incident involving alcohol at a private, off-campus residence.
We extend our heart-felt sympathies to the parents and family of Nikolas and to his many friends following this tragic event.
SFA staff and counselors supported the family and students who gathered at the hospital during the weekend and joined them during a candlelight vigil for Nikolas at the hospital Sunday evening.
Any SFA student who has been affected by this tragedy is encouraged to schedule to talk with an SFA counselor by calling Counseling Services at ext. 2401.
