Guest euphonium player to perform at SFA

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of   Fine Arts and School of Music will present Jeremy McBride in a guest   euphonium recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Cole Concert Hall   on the SFA campus.   

J.D. Salas, SFA instructor of tuba and euphonium, said he invited   McBride to campus to participate SFA's Octubafest, a series of   performances celebrating the tuba and euphonium as a solo and small   chamber music instrument.    

McBride, a private music instructor and freelance musician in the   Dallas/Fort Worth area, is completing his Master of Music in euphonium   performance at the University of North Texas. He earned his Bachelor of   Music from Baylor University.   

A successful competitor, McBride has won first prize at the Leonard   Falcone International Euphonium Competition and second prize at the   Potomac Euphonium Competition.  He has also won the concerto   competitions of Baylor University and the University of North Texas.    

Most recently, he won the solo competition at the 2007 Texas Regional   Tuba Euphonium Conference and the 2007 mock band audition at the   Tennessee Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference.
