SFA Theatre to present 'Penguin Blues'

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Theatre will present a student-directed production of "Penguin Blues" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Downstage Theater of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

According to director Sarah McKinney, Keller senior, Ethan Phillips' one act relays the story of two people in rehabilitation battling addictions and breaking through bonds of denial together.

Kilgore junior Sarah Hale plays Angelita, a nun from Wisconsin, and Houston junior Xzavien Hollins portrays Gordon, a voice-over actor from Los Angeles.

McKinney previously directed "Circled in Red," and served as soundboard operator for "Chamber Music," the lightboard operator for "The Laramie Project," the wingmaster for "Grease," and on the wardrobe crew for "Anton in Show Business." Additionally, she played Naomi in "Naomi in the Living Room" and Julia in "Lend Me a Tenor."
