East Texas Historical Association annual meeting

The East Texas Historical Association will hold its annual meeting at Hotel Fredonia Sept. 21-23. Dr. R.G. Dean of Nacogdoches serves as president of the association.

The program features 74 historians who will make presentations on historical subjects of interest to East Texas residents. Session topics include: "A Tribute to Barry Crouch- A Texas Historian", "Incorporating East Texas History and Culture into Fictional Narrative and Film", "East Texas Graveyards", "Native Americans in East Texas", "Hood's Texans in Marching and Memory", "Nineteenth Century Baptists" and several others, including joint sessions with the Texas Folklore Society and the West Texas Historical Association.

A banquet on Friday, Sept. 22, features an address by President Dean titled "R.L. Moore: Legendary Mathematician and Teacher," and Bill Crawford of Austin will speak on "Outlaw X: The Strange World of Border Radio" at an awards banquet at noon Saturday, Sept. 23.
