Herbert Midgley, lecturer in the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music, will present "Songs of Herbert Midgley" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 in the Music Recital Hall on the SFA campus. Admission is free.
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present "Songs of Herbert Midgley" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus. Admission is free.
Midgley, a member of the SFA music faculty since 1999, will be performing selections from his latest compact disc, "Rita's." which was released in August. It contains a variety of musical genres, including rock, country, folk, punk, emo and electronic.
Midgley is a frequent performer at open mike and singer/songwriter nights in the area. His internet hit, "I'm a Nerd," has been downloaded over a million times, and he has over 150 music videos on YouTube.
At SFA, Midgley teaches Class Guitar, Electronic Music, Music for Children and History of Rock Music. He also teaches Classical Guitar through the Music Preparatory Division. Prior to joining the SFA faculty, he taught all-level music in the public schools.
