Controlled Equipment
- cost of $500 to $4999.99 (except rifles and handguns controlled at $0
to $4999.99)
- non-consumable and useful life of 1 year or more
- independently functional
- not attached to a permanent structure
- specifically one of these items
- handguns and rifles
- fax machines, telecopiers
- stereo systems
- cameras
- television, vcr, dvd player, camcorder, combo units of these
- microcomputers, servers and laptops
- printers
University Controlled Equipment
- cost of $0 to $4999.99
- non-consumable and useful life of 1 year or more
- independently functional
- not attached to a permanent structure
- specifically one of these items
- firearms
- microcomputers, servers and laptops
- printers
- monitors
- scanners
- digital cameras (including palm pilots that include a digital camera)
- additional items may be added due to high risk of theft. Please note
that if an item is defined as University Controlled, all of that item
must be inventoried.
Donated equipment meeting any of these definitions
is also to be inventoried. It is the department's responsibility to advise
the Property Manager of any donated equipment.
