Acceptances are based upon:
• needs of the journal at the time of submission
• intrinsic merit of the work
• creative appeal for the readers of the journal
We prefer realism, but are willing to look at work that falls outside this category if it is of the highest caliber.
We do not publish academic essays.
Our reading period is year-round (slower in December & May through August).
Simultaneous submissions, with notice of such, are accepted, but we do not accept multiple submissions from the same writer. Please wait to hear from us before sending another submission.
Manuscripts must be typed and presented in a professional format (double-spaced for fiction and creative nonfiction, single spaced for poetry). Handwritten manuscripts will be immediately returned.
Include a cover letter with all contact information and a brief publication bio. An e-mail address for easier contact with prospective authors would be helpful. Authors will be asked to submit a short, professional biography for both print and on-line versions.
An SASE must be included. Submissions without an SASE will not receive notification. Submissions without sufficient postage will not be returned.
The editors make every effort to reach a decision on publication within six months
We would like to pay our authors, but we can only offer two copies at this time.
Publication of all works will be in paper first. In a year’s time, the journal will go on-line. After this, all rights revert to the author.
Please address manuscripts and queries to the appropriate section editor.
