Grades and Grade Points

Grade	Description	Grade Points
A	Excellent	4 points per semester hour
B	Good	3 points per semester hour
C	Average	2 points per semester hour
D	Passing	1 point per semester hour
F	Failure	No points
WF	Withdrew Failing	No points
P	Passing	No Quality Hours or Grade Points
WP	Withdrew while Passing	No Quality Hours or Grade Points
WH	Incomplete	No Quality Hours or Grade Points
W	Withdrew: No Grade	No Quality Hours or Grade Points

Grades of WP or WF are assigned only when a student has withdrawn from the University after the mid-term deadline or with special approval of the student's academic dean.

Grade Summary Information

When viewing a transcript, the information which is displayed at the end of each term is described in the following:

Current - Current semester totals only
Cumulative - Cumulative Grade Summary for all semesters

AHRS = All attempted hours, including transfer work, F, WF, P, WP, WH and W grades

EHRS = All earned hours, including transfer work

QHRS = All quality hours used to calculate the students Grade Point Average. Exclude hours transferred, Pass hours (P grades) and Remedial Courses.

QPTS = Quality points earned from quality hours.

GPA = Total grade points earned at Stephen F. Austin State University divided by total quality hours.

NOTE: Repeated courses may be excluded from earned hours and quality hours. Refer to the current General Bulletin or Graduate Bulletin for additional information.
