Austin State University.All students in the 30 hour and 18 hour Principal Preparation Program will recieve a scholarship that will reduce the cost of the program to $5,500* for master's and $3,300* for certification only begining in fall 2011. Contact the program coordinator if you are interested in forming a face-to-face cohert. A minimum of 10 students is required to offer off-campus face-to-face classes. Face-to-face courses offered off-campus incur additional fee. *Reduced rates for instate tuition only.
About the Program

The program is nationally-accredited through NCATE, has over a 90% pass rate on the TExES, and maintains a rigorous curriculum taught completely by highly-qualified professors with successful leadership experience. A scholar-practitioner approach incorporates theory and practice-based learning that focuses on research-based leadership practices, curriculum and instructional leadership, data-driven decision-making, special programs, law, and school and community leadership. Field experiences and/or internship hours are included in all coursework. The university and department are committed to providing courses that are aligned to national and state standards, provide appropriate feedback for learning and growing, and supportive of all students. The program has earned national recognition as a Recognized Program through the NCATE accreditation process.

To be accepted in the Department of Secondary Education and Educational Leadership for degree or professional certificate work, students must first meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School. Applications forms are available through the Graduate School Office and should be returned to the Graduate Office. An applicant to the Department of Secondary Education and Educational Leadership must complete the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) prior to or within the first six graduate hours.
The admission process is designed to ensure a good match between the applicant and the department. Applicants must satisfy department requirements, including a professional profile, essay, and interviews with the Graduate Faculty Council.
