Our Mission

Stephen F. Austin State University Press, housed in the College of Liberal and Applied Arts, seeks to maintain high standards in the traditional areas of literary publishing while also exploring the history and culture of East Texas and the surrounding region. The Press seeks to meet the needs of international as well as regional and local audiences.

Stephen F. Austin State University Press broadens the University's mission of teaching, research, scholarship, creative work, and service by publishing works of cultural and scholarly significance.

The press's interests include works on the history and culture of East Texas as well as the surrounding region, forestry, archeology, folklore, fiction, poetry, biography, creative non-fiction, general interest nonfiction, and literary criticism. In addition, Stephen F. Austin State University Press occasionally publishes children's and young-adult literature.
