SFA will accept applications for graduate admission at any time. More specifically, the Department of Psychology allows students to enroll at any point during the academic year (fall, spring, or summer). However, summer and fall enrollment are highly recommended over spring enrollment.
Admission requirements are as follows:

Required coursework:

Plus 9 additional hours in social and behavioral sciences

Applicants must present a minimum 3.0 overall G.P.A. and a minimum factor score* of 1300 for clear admission. Applications that do not meet these minimum criteria will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

*Factor score = (G.P.A. * 100) + G.R.E. combined score (Verbal + Quantitative)

The department awards assistantships on an annual basis, committing all funds available for the coming academic year. The first review of applications occurs around May 1, with consideration being given based on G.P.A., G.R.E. scores, and the date on which application materials are received. All things being equal, applications received earlier will be given higher priority. The Department offers a number of 20 hr/wk graduate assistantships on the basis of merit to in-state and out-of-state students. Out-of-state students who receive a 20-hour assistantship are eligible to pay in-state resident tuition. Although there is no guarantee, assistantships are sometimes available for the summer terms. If you have any questions about any aspect of our program, please feel free to contact Dr. Jeremy Heider , Graduate Program Coordinator, at heiderj@sfasu.edu.
