The Psychology Club

The Psychology Club at SFASU is a student-run organization dedicated to providing opportunities for students to enhance their understanding and appreciation of psychology through a variety of volunteer, educational, and social activities.

The club has adopted Rusk State Hospital as our philanthropic recipient. Rusk State Hospital is one of nine state hospitals in Texas sharing the responsibility of conserving the mental health of Texas citizens and helping persons with mental illness achieve their maximum potential. We volunteer monthly at the hospital, offering patients the opportunity for social interaction and students first hand experience with individuals representing a variety of psychiatric diagnoses.

Club members also volunteer their time at the Nacogdoches Boys and Girls Club and the Nacogdoches Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to community work, the club sponsors social activities and fund raisers. The club meets once weekly to plan upcoming events and to discuss a topic related to psychology.

All students are welcome! You do not have to be a psychology major to join our organization. Information about current club activities and application forms are available on the club bulletin board located on the second floor of the Education Building.

Psi Chi - National Honor Society for Psychology

Psi Chi is the National Honor Society for Psychology. Students must meet membership requirements in order to receive an invitation to join. Potential new members are contacted at the beginning of each fall and spring semester, and flyers are posted announcing meetings. Our branch is very active. We organize research group projects to take to conferences, bring in speakers, organize GRE and graduate school preparation events, participate in service and fund-raising work.
