Goals and Services:

The primary goal of the Clinic is the training of graduate students to provide psychological services. The Clinic's secondary goal is the provision of psychological services to the university and community. Clinic services include psychological testing and evaluation; psychotherapy for adults, children, families, parents, couples, and special problem groups; and referrals to appropriate agencies. The services provided are primarily short-term (i.e., less than 6 months).

Eligibility:

There are no limitations on who is eligible for services, but clients tend to come from the Nacogdoches County area. Clients may be referred by any agency or referral source, or may be self-referred. A phone call, walk-in, or professional referral are all acceptable contact procedures. After the initial intake screening, it may be determined that a client would be better served by another agency. In such situations, an appropriate referral will be made.

Cost of Services:

Sliding fee scale for non-students based on income. Students - $4.00 for a one hour therapy session. Assessment fees are also on a sliding scale beginning at $150, depending upon income.

Resources:

Funding sources are the SFASU Department of Psychology, client fees, and contracts with external agencies.

Background:

The SFASU Psychology Clinic was formally organized in the fall of l973. The Clinic is dedicated to the provision of quality psychological services while meeting its objective as a training facility.
