A Message from the President
Welcome to the webpages of the Strategic Planning Committee of Stephen F. Austin State University. As we strive to position SFA for greater successes in the years to come, it is essential that we respond to the changing realities of our world, our country, our state, and our region. We must also consider the needs of our state and nation for an engaged, informed citizenry and a workforce well-prepared for the changing nature of our economy. In addition, we are mindful of the approach of processes and activities leading to the reaffirmation of our institutional accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 2011.
Accordingly, on December 18, 2006, I appointed a Strategic Planning Committee to begin work on a strategic plan for the university. The process of developing a plan will be an open, inclusive, and comprehensive one, culminating in the launching of a new strategic plan in September, 2008.
The result will be, I hope, a limited, achievable set of objectives that will position Stephen F. Austin State University to fulfill its mission and become a “national model of a high quality, student-focused, comprehensive university.”
I invite you to use this website often as a place to get updated information on the status of the planning process, to offer input into the process, and to find general topics of interest surrounding the planning process. And I invite you to become involved in the planning process as opportunities are made available. Please feel free to contact committee members with your thoughts and ideas about strategic initiatives that you believe should be considered as we begin to develop an outline to guide our next several years.
Through this strategic planning process we have the opportunity to shape SFA's future. Let’s take advantage of the opportunity!
