It is my pleasure to present Stephen F. Austin State University's Strategic Plan 2013: Preparing for the Future. It is the framework upon which we as a university community will build our institution.
As we strive to position SFA for even greater successes in the years to come, it is essential that we respond to the changing realities of our world, our country, our state, and our region. We must also consider the needs of our state and nation for an engaged, informed citizenry and a workforce well-prepared for the changing nature of our economy. In addition, we are mindful of the approach of processes and activities leading to the reaffirmation of our institutional accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 2011.
Accordingly, on December 18, 2006, I appointed a Strategic Planning Committee to begin work on a strategic plan for the university. The process of developing the plan was an open, inclusive, and comprehensive one, beginning in February 2007, and ending with the adoption of the plan by our Board of Regents by an unanimous vote on July 25, 2008.
As you will see, the result is a limited set of achievable objectives that will position SFA to fulfill its mission and become a “national model of a high- quality, student-focused, comprehensive university.”
I invite you to join with us as we implement the various elements of this plan over the next five years. Every part of the university will be engaged in this process, and everyone associated with the university will benefit from our work toward achieving the goals articulated in Strategic Plan 2013: Preparing for the Future. Let's work toward a great future together!
