Mr. & Miss SFA

About Mr. & Miss SFA

The Mr. and Miss SFA title is an award presented each year by the Office of Student Affairs Programs and the SFA Alumni Association to exemplary students who well represent and promote SFA. Recipients are selected based on their scholarship, participation and leadership in academic and co-curricular activities, and service and loyalty to the university.

The Mr. SFA Award was established in honor of the late Stan McKewen, a 1934 SFA graduate. The Miss SFA Award was established in honor of Arnodean Covin, who was named Miss SFA in 1940, 1941 and 1942.

To be eligible, SFA seniors must have completed 90 credit hours by December, with 48 of those hours completed at SFA, and must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Candidates also must be within 12 months of graduating from SFA and also enrolled in the spring semester following the nomination deadline. Also, candidates must not have received this type of award from SFA or any other college or university.

Nominations may come from SFA faculty or staff members. Selections are made by a committee of faculty, staff, and alumni. Finalists will be contacted for interviews. The awards are scheduled for presentation at an SFA basketball game during the spring semester.

The committee is meeting to create a new name and application process to promote gender inclusion.
