The Center for Career and Professional Development is still here to assist with your career development needs! Our team can conduct career coaching and mock interview appointments virtually, and we are still critiquing resumes and professional profiles virtually as well. Upcoming workshops will take place via Zoom, and recordings of those events will be made available in Handshake after the event wraps up.

Interviewing Skills

April 13 @ 1pm

Time to sharpen up your interviewing skills, Jacks! The CCPD is here to help teach you the proper techniques to properly sell yourself in an interview, both in person and virtually. Together, we will learn how to stand out above the rest in the interview process.

Learn Canva with the CCPD

April 14 @ 1pm

It's time to add a new skill to your resume! In this workshop, we will inform students on how important creativity is to employers seeking job candidates. We will then have an interactive activity for students to practice using Canva and ask questions in the workshop.

Build your Professional Profile

April 16 @ 1pm

Do you have a professional presence online? Are you promoting yourself as a competitive candidate on LinkedIn and Handshake? Join the CCPD to learn some tricks on how you can set up a profile that showcases your skills. Employers use online platforms to research and vet candidates just like you!

Lumberjacks GROW Program

Now is a great time to try out virtual interviewing and practice articulating the skills that employers are looking for. Lumberjacks GROW (Guided Reflection on Work) involves a short online survey, followed by a virtual mock interview using InterviewStream. The CCPD team will review your interview responses and provide feedback within ten business days. All you need to participate is 20 minutes in a quiet space and a webcam enable device. SFA Dance Marathon

We are unfortunately announcing the cancellation of SFA Dance Marathon 2020 that was to be held on Friday, April 3rd. Please rest assured that this is not the end of our program year.

While we eager to share with you the new creative way to come together and continue to fight for the tomorrows of the sick and injured children of East Texas. In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and your families and be on the lookout for details on how we are moving forward.

The Big Event

It is with heavy hearts that we release our official statement for The BIG Event 2020 in response to COVID-19. Due to the current guidelines surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19, we regretfully announce that The BIG Event 2020 at SFASU that was scheduled for 4/18/2020 has been cancelled with no rescheduled date. Thank you to our community & lumberjacks for your dedication & support. We look forward to #sfathebigevent 2021!!

The Pantry

Lumberjacks Care/OVW Grant

March 23-29: Consent Karaoke

Students will share tiktoks of them singing or lip-syncing popular songs with lyrics that convey SFA's consent policy on Twitter/Instagram. We'll share a list of songs! Top three will be announced Monday, March 30th.

Starting April 1st: Unbelievable episode discussion

We'll watch one episode of Netflix's Unbelievable each Wednesday. Students will have to have Netflix accounts to participate. During the viewing we'll have a live chat on Twitter. The next day we'll host post-episode discussions.

Greek Life

Throughout this time the Fraternity & Sorority Life office will be hosting a series of virtual events with our Greek students. Opportunities will include a collective viewing of HAZE the documentary using Netflix parties, increased training modules on recruitment, chapter management, greek guidelines and more.
