Auditions and Interviews

The School of Theatre annually holds auditions, portfolio reviews and interviews for incoming freshmen and transfer students. Each student must also apply and be admitted to Stephen F. Austin State University (http://goSFA.com). Results of the audition/interview process may be: acceptance as a theatre major with a scholarship from the School of Theatre; acceptance with no scholarship from the School of Theatre; provisional acceptance; or non-acceptance as a theatre major (students admitted to the university may choose a different major).

A Theatre scholarship is only one of many sources of financial aid at SFA. There are many other scholarships available (most of these can be found at http://www.sfasu.edu/admissions/scholarships/). Apply early, as the applciation deadline for most scholarships is February 1. Our financial aid office helps with loans and grants (http://www.sfasu.edu/faid/index.asp). Whether or not you qualify for College Work Study, employment is available in the School of Theatre and many other places on campus (http://www.sfasu.edu/ccs/studentemployment/), and some of our students have found jobs off campus in the friendly city of Nacogdoches. We encourage you to take the initiative to find every form of aid that's available to you.
