Meridius Spam Filter

The Meridius system sits between the internet and our email servers. If any email going to your SFA account is judged to be spam, a temporary account is created on the Meridius system, the spam is moved there, and a notification email is sent to you. The Meridius account name is exactly the same as your SFA email address.

The Meridius Spam Filter automatically deletes any email more than seven days old. If the Meridius account is ever empty, AND the account has never been logged into, the temporary account gets deleted. Therefore, the password cannot be retrieved.

A Meridius account can be created, deleted, and recreated on an unlimited basis. However, once an account IS logged into, the account becomes permanent, unless someone manually deletes it. Any new spam will be put in this permanent account; instead of creating another temporary account. The only time a temporary account is automatically deleted is if the number of emails goes to zero AND the account was never logged into. This is why the date on the notification email is important. If the Meridius account was not logged into within seven days of the email date, odds are that the Meridius account no longer exists.

If you cannot get into Meridius with the email address and password supplied, click on the "Forgot your password" button, key in your entire email address, (be sure to include the "@sfasu.edu" or "@titan.sfasu.edu" part) and click "Get password". If you get an error message that 'a password for this user is not available', either the email address is incorrect or the entire account has been deleted. If you know the email address is correct, then it is reasonable to assume the temporary Meridius account has been deleted.

Even if you have logged into Meridius, emails are deleted from the permanent account after reaching seven days in age, so be sure and login at least once per week and either release or delete the email(s). The number of days is usually bumped up to 21 between semesters and during Christmas/Spring breaks.

When logging in, be sure to include the "@sfasu.edu" (or "@titan.sfasu.edu") part.

You can opt out of having your email filtered by logging into Meridius, clicking Whitelist (on the top, right), and putting an asterisk (*) in the box on the left. Then click the 'Add' button. This will tell Meridius to pass all your email through.
