Student Conduct Committee

Function

The Student Conduct Committee is the body authorized to conduct formal hearings and impose sanctions for alleged Student Conduct Code violations and to serve as the appellate authority over informal hearings for alleged Student Conduct Code violations.

Membership

The committee shall be composed of one (1) faculty/staff member, one (1) student and one (1) faculty/staff chair.

For any hearing, the accused student may select one of the students from the pool, and the university may select one of the faculty/staff members from the pool.

The chair is appointed by the President, and serves on a permanent basis. The pool of committee members shall consist of five (5) faculty/staff members appointed by the president and five (5) students appointed by the president of the Student Government Association.

The VPUA, or designee, may appoint student or faculty/staff members to the committee pool in situations where committee members are unavailable to serve to preserve the timeliness of the student conduct process.

Chair

The chair, appointed by the president of the university, shall hold the position on a permanent basis and shall preside at all disciplinary hearings of the committee, unless another faculty/staff member is appointed to preside by the chair for reasons of scheduling or conflict of interest.
