Prisoners Of War Exemption

A student is exempt from the payment of tuitiion and fees, not to exceed 120 semester credit hours, if that student:


1) is a Texas resident and was a Texas resident at the time of original entry into the U.S. Armed Forces;
2) was first classified as a prisoner of war by the U.S. Department of Defense on or after Jan. 1, 1999; and
3) is enrolled for at least 12 semester credit hous.

Additionally, an eligible student is exempt from the payment of fees and charges for room and board if residing on campus. Otherwise, a reasonable stipend to cover the cost of lodging and board will be provided. A scholarship also will be awarded to cover the costs of books and educational materials required for the coursework.
