Honoring SFA teaching and research

On October 27, 1979, the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents established a program to honor outstanding teaching and research contributions of SFA faculty members. Previously named Regents Professor, the title of Regents Scholar is the highest honor that the university may bestow upon a member of the faculty.

For many years, two Regents Scholars were named each year, one in the area of research and one in the area of teaching. Beginning in 2009, one Regents Scholar has been named each academic year by the Board of Regents for this prestigious honor. Each Regents Scholar receives a medal along with a stipend, and the title is held for a term of one academic year.

The following SFA faculty members have been honored by being named Regents Scholars:
