Interim Vice President for Student Affairs

What drew you to the higher education world?

My career in higher education began without even knowing it when I became a resident assistant as a sophomore at Ohio University. By my senior year, I made a career pivot from special education to higher education. Nothing was more exciting to me than helping students develop and creating an amazing student experience.

What do you enjoy most about your role at SFA?

I have a servant’s heart, and my heart stays very full at SFA. The motto of one of my professional organizations is “enriching the campus experience,” and the tagline is “where campus service visionaries and top solution innovators converge.” I am lucky to be surrounded by a talented team with the Division of Student Affairs with whom I collaborate daily in creating a dynamic campus experience for our students, employees and visitors.

What do you hope students gain from SFA?

I hope each student feels safe to explore their personal growth and independence. SFA is the ultimate laboratory for learning to manage your time and solve problems, meeting new people, talking to professors, and exploring your interests, while being supported by people who care about you and your success!

What are you passionate about outside of your role at SFA?

I am a lifelong learner who is always looking for ways to expand my mind and experiences. I adore my husband and am a bonus mom to a smart and beautiful 22-year-old daughter. I am also a volunteer for Border Collie Rescue and Rehabilitation of Texas; as a result, I have two foster fails!
