Pursue a Personal Training or Group Fitness Instructor career

If you're interested in a career in fitness and wellness, the first thing to do is become certified! The National Academy of Sports Medicine certifications, including certifications offered by the Athletics and Fitness Association of America subsidiary, are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and provide the competency assurance necessary to aid you in entering the profession.

Interested in working at Campus Recreation?

Students must be certified before being considered for employment as a personal trainer or Group Axe instructor at SFA.

Preparation courses: spring 2021

Preparation courses are not required to become eligible to take the certification courses – you can always self-study. However, Campus Rec is proud to offer eight-week preparation courses to current SFA students. Led by NASM/AFAA-certified instructors, these courses offer a more hands-on hybrid format (online and in-person lecture), complete with practical components and quizzes to help you get exam-ready!
