Nancy Shepherd, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Family and Consumer Sciences, Stephen F. Austin State University, received her doctoral degree from Texas Tech University in 2013 in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Her Masters and Bachelor degrees were obtained from the University of Idaho, where her research led to the creation of teaching resources delivered in a traveling trunk through her company, Global Fusion Educational Resources ™. She serves as the Director for the Economic Education Center located at SFA to provide K-12 teachers with quality professional development and curriculum materials for the purpose of promoting the seamless integration of economic education for K-12 students. She teaches foundation courses in FCS, adult development and consumer sciences.Before moving to Texas, Nancy taught at several institutions in the Northwest and worked in business and industry. As an active leader in professional organizations, she currently serves as President for the Texas Affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, serves on the AAFCS membership committee and the AAFCS Academy model task force.
