Registration Holds


Due to the ongoing Global Health Crisis with COVID-19, all advising appointments for the College of Education will be occurring through ZOOM until further notice. -Updated 3/16/2020

Education Departmental Advising Holds:

Freshman who have been accepted to SFA but not yet taken classes: You will need to contact Orientation Programs to establish your orientation date.

New Transfer Students: You are able to contact Orientation Programs to establish a Transfer orientation date, but this is not required. If attending Orientation, you will be advised by one of our Academic Advisors. Otherwise, please feel free to call us at 936-468-2901 to schedule a one-on-one session in advance.

Undergraduate students graduating at the end of this current semester: No action is required at this time. A hold is placed to prevent you from registering for classes following graduation. If wanting to return to SFA in another program, please contact Admissions for assistance. If you have any additional questions, you can email our office at

Current undergraduate students who will be taking classes on campus next semester: You will need to meet with your Academic Advisor in-person every semester after the 12th class day for advising in order to have this hold removed. Advising sessions occur by scheduled appointment only in McKibben 118, and are setup by the student. Please call our front desk at 936-468-2901, if needing scheduling assistance.

Current undergraduate students who are in an ONLINE Completer Program: You will need to email your advisor requesting to be advised for each upcoming semester, which may occur after the 12th class day of your current semester. Your email must include your full name, campus ID, major and how many hours you would like to take for each upcoming semester. Please allow 10-14 business days for reply of advised courses during heavier advising times. They will remove your hold once your online advising session is complete.
