Dropping a course or withdrawing with a W grade
The last day to drop a course or withdraw with W grade has been extended to April 30. The drop will not count against the Texas Education Code 51.907 “Six Drop Rule” limit, but it eliminates the WP/WF withdrawal option for Spring 2020.

Can I pick up an official or unofficial transcript at the Registrar’s Office?
The Registrar’s Office is located in the Rusk Building, which is currently closed to the public. Please see the Registrar’s Office website for instructions on how to request a transcript.
Is this going to extend the semester at all?
No. The last day of final exams is May 8.
Are there any changes to May commencement ceremonies?
Due to the nationwide restrictions being recommended by the federal government and CDC, spring commencement ceremonies will be postponed. However, we are working on a virtual commencement ceremony and we will provide the opportunity for graduates to participate in a future in-person “traditional” commencement ceremony. In accordance with our standard operating procedures, the university will confer degrees and mail diplomas to graduates. March 23, 2020 - Steen Library
Steen Library will remain open to students, staff and faculty, who will need to swipe a valid ID to access the library. The building is closed to the general public. Library hours are shortened and are on the library hours web page.
March 17, 2020 - AARC tutoring services
Beginning Thursday, March 19, students will be emailed by their tutor, AARC program director or professor about how specific tutoring services will be continued. Students interested in scheduling 1:1 Appointments (offered via Zoom) should email email@example.com.
March 16, 2020 - Steen Library
Steen Library will remain open. The hours are shortened and are available on the library hours web page. The East Texas Research Center is closed but ETRC staff are available to answer questions through the ASK US service on the ETRC website. Remote use of resources and services, including the Ask A Librarian service, will be emphasized for students, faculty, and staff. March 16, 2020 - Office of Research and Graduate Studies
At this time, no adjustments have been made to thesis/dissertation/comprehensive exam deadlines. Should the university take additional steps or make alterations to the current plan, we will take another look at making adjustments and notifying students as well as faculty of those proposed changes. As always, the graduate school will gladly work with special circumstances on a case by case basis.
March 12, 2020 - Business hours and support
SFA is here to support our students. At the present time, university offices and employees will be maintaining normal business hours and will be available to students after Spring Break. Should this change, the university community will be notified.
As we work to ensure that critical services are accessible to students throughout the current issue, any student that has a special need not addressed by any of the programs below is encouraged to reach out to the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs at DOSA@sfasu.edu.

March 12, 2020 - Health Clinic
At the present time, the SFA clinic will be open and available to on-campus and local students starting Monday, March 16. If you are experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness, you may call SFA’s Health Services at 936.468.4008 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tell them about any recent travel and your symptoms. They may want to provide specific instructions about how to come to the clinic and where to go once you arrive to minimize the risk of exposing others, or they may give instructions for self-care at home.
The SFA Health Clinic is also available for consultation with students who reside outside of the region. This may use web conferencing capabilities such as zoom (when appropriate) or even via telephone. To arrange these consultations, contact the SFA Health Clinic at the number listed above.

“The Pantry” is here to assist students who are experiencing food insecurity during the current situation. Students who are in need of short-term assistance may access the pantry by contacting the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs via email at DOSA@sfasu.edu or by phone during regular business hours at 936.468.7249.

Counseling can be arranged in a distance format. This may include web conferencing capabilities such as Zoom (when appropriate) or even via telephone. Students who wish to keep existing appointments with Counseling Services, or who wish to speak with a counselor may contact Counseling Services at 936.468.2401.
March 12, 2020 - Career Services
The Center for Career and Professional Development will be modifying its services through April 6. Career coaching and mock interviews will take place exclusively through Zoom, and all document and professional profile critiques will take place virtually. Any previously scheduled appointments will be contacted about transitioning to a virtual platform. Through April 6, the following CCPD services will not be available: drop-in hours, the wall of resources, the career closet, in-person appointments, and virtual interview room reservations.
