The food, nutrition and dietetics program offers two minors to students:

The food and nutrition minor is for students who want to obtain knowledge of general nutrition principles in various lifespans. You also learn how nutrition applies to different cultures, the community and the sports population. This plan includes foods courses during which you earn the principles of food science. In this class, you explore how the chemistry of food impacts the final product, which you can eat! You also can take meal management, during which you learn how to cook a meal for a crowd. We also offer courses on basic food safety and sanitation.

The nutrition in healthcare minor is for those majoring in chemistry and biology who want to apply that knowledge to nutrition. In this minor, you learn about medical nutrition therapy, which involves the physiology and nutrition therapy for multiple conditions. You also take nutrition counseling and learn important communication skills. If you plan on working in a healthcare setting, this class is invaluable! Advanced nutrition teaches you how to apply your biochemistry knowledge to nutrition concepts.
