FY2022 Summer Enrollment

Summer enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to make changes to your insurance benefits and/or TexFlex flexible spending account (FSA) without a qualifying life event. Otherwise, changes may only be made if a qualifying life event change has occurred. This year's benefits summer enrollment period runs from June 28, 2021 through July 10, 2021. Benefits eligible employees can log onto ERS OnLine and make summer enrollment changes during the entire enrollment period. For more information visit our Summer Enrollment webpage.

Any enrollment changes you make to your coverage will go into effect September 1, 2021.

Important Reminder: If you don't want to make changes to your benefits, no action is required during summer enrollment. Your current coverage will continue to the new plan year.

In conjunction with the revision to Policy 11.27 Telecommuting Arrangements for Staff Employees in July 2020, the Staff Telecommuting Request and Agreement Form is moving from a paper form to an electronic document accessible in mySFA under the Employee tab in the Employee Info section.

This new process allows for:

Review the manager's telecommuting guide we have developed if you have staff reporting to you. Faculty will continue to coordinate requests to telecommute with their department chair/dean per Guidelines for Faculty, Updated for Fall 2020 document dated September 3, 2020. (Faculty with staff reporting to them will be able to approve and submit forms on behalf of their staff.)

Note: Staff needing to work remotely for 5 consecutive days or less may get verbal or written approval from their supervisor to do so without having to complete the telecommuting request.

This is a positive step in our process automation efforts and we want to thank Rich Barnhart in ITS for partnering with the Human Resources team. We see this process as a model for automating other manually routed forms going forward.

*** The emergency paid leave created by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) has been continued through 3/31/2021. ***

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, signed in December 2020, allows agencies and institutions to continue offering the emergency paid sick leave and expanded family medical leave created by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) through March 31, 2021. Therefore, existing leave codes and earnings types will remain available through March 31. The Consolidated Appropriations Act does not provide for any additional leave, so employees are allowed to take FFCRA sick leave between January 1 and March 31, 2021 up to the amount they are entitled to under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act or the Emergency Family Medical Leave Expansion Act.

Please contact the Payroll office at or extension 2172 if you have questions about your FFCRA sick leave usage or leave balance.

What types of paid leave are provided for employees under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)? See the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) Questions and Answers.

To answer questions on how to record your work time, leave time, and what type of paid leave applies to your situation, use the COVID-19 Time Record Flowchart.

If you are telecommuting and/or reporting hours taken for emergency paid sick leave and/or emergency family medical leave, track your time with the Staff Employee COVID-19 Manual Time Record. Submit this form to your supervisor at the end of each pay period.
