The Office of Institutional Research is an administrative office which:
- provides information and analyses for data-informed decision-making;
- ensures and promotes the integrity of university data and reports;
- interacts with all levels and divisions of university leadership and employees;
- collaborates with numerous federal, state, regional and local organizations;
- advances the university mission and institutional objectives by responding to current and future university needs.

Examples of specific Office of Institutional Research responsibilities are:
- prepare and distribute information necessary for institutional strategic planning, policy development and analysis, and executive decision-making (i.e. Strategic Decision Support website);
- maintain accessible data resources based on institutional and external databases (i.e. Jack Facts interactive data tool);
- ensure accurate and effective state, regional and federally mandated reporting (i.e. THECB, 60x30TX, SACS, IPEDS);
- provide timely and accurate responses to external and internal constituencies;
- manage faculty activity reporting information;
- assist with institutional effectiveness, program assessment and accreditation (SACS, NCATE, AACSB, etc.) processes.
