The Office of Multicultural Affairs conducts a variety of diversity presentations ranging from topics such as diversity, social justice, stereotyping, etc. Presentations are given by our staff members to faculty, staff, students and community members. To request a presentation, click the purple button on the right side of this page with all requested information.

General OMA Presentation

This presentation is an overview of OMA Services, Programs and Events.

"What is Diversity? Presentation

This presentation gives a basic overview on diversity. Basic terminology such as diversity, social justice, stereotypes and micoagressions are explored. In addition, a look inside each participant's cultural identity will be discussed. Interactive activities are included in this presentation.

Microaggressions workshop

Microagressions are defined as "a subtle but offensive comment or action directed at a minority or other nondominant group that is often unintentional or unconsciously reinforces a stereotype. During this workshop participants will learn how to identify microagressions, understand their effects on others and learn how to prevent and combat them in their daily lives

Bystander intervention workshop

Our Bystander Intervention workshop is intended to teach participants how to become an ally when they encounter threats to others in our communities. The goal of this workshop is to give participants the tools they need to safely and effectively intervene to make SFA a more welcoming and inclusive environment.

Cultural sensitivity training

Cultural sensitivity is the awareness and sensitivity of other practices and cultures. During this training, we will discuss the importance of interacting with others who are different from you and how to navigate cultural differences.

Safe Space Training

A Safe Space is a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students. Safe Space Ally Training is designed to help campuses create a safe space for LGBTQ students.

OMA Student Ambassadors will give all trainings unless specifically requested to be given by an OMA Professional Staff member. Special requests should be sent to oma@sfasu.edu.
